Following its pick-up this week of Hypnos, FilmaxInternational has acquired worldwide distribution rights to another Spanishthriller, Deadly Cargo (Camara Oscura).

Judging by Filmax's two new pick-ups in two days, theSpanish industry looks to have a dynamic new sales house to go to, particularlyfor genre product. Filmax is best known internationally for its FantasticFactory genre label.

The new deal gives Filmax further links to major mediaplayers in Spain, including Deadly Cargo co-producers Manga Films andEstudios Picasso, the production unit of broadcaster Telecinco. The Hypnosdeal linked Filmax to powerhouse DeA Planeta.

Produced by Pedro Domenech of Iris Star and Manga's Luis DeVal, Deadly Cargo was the inaugural film at last year's Sitges InternationalFilm Festival. It features a cast of up-and-coming Spanish actors in the taleof a scuba-diving trip gone murderously awry.

The deal was reached by Filmax CEO Carlos Fernandez and SVPof Sales & Co-Productions Antonia Nava, and Iris Star's Domenech. Filmaxwill show Deadly Cargo to buyers in Toronto and other fall markets.
