Pedro Almodovar'sVolver willreceive FIPRESCI's Grand Prix for Best Film of theYear during the San Sebastian International Film Festival.

The annual award will bepresented to producer Agustin Almodovar on Sept 21,during the opening gala of the festival.

The prize from TheInternational Federation of Film Critics is voted on by more than 350 criticsaround the world. Films released between August 2005 and July 2006 were eligible. Volver opened in Spain on March 17.

Almodovar also won FIPRESCI's GrandPrix in its inaugural year (1999) for AllAbout My Mother.

Previous winners also includeKim Ki-duk's 3-Iron,Jean-Luc Godard's NotreMusique, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Uzak, Aki Kaurismaki's The Man Without aPast, Jafar Panahi's The Circle and Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia.
