FortissimoFilms has acquired worldwide rights to Wang Xiaoshuai's Cannes competition filmShanghai Dreams andinternational rights to Tony Krawitz' Jewboy, screening in Un Certain Regard.

Shanghai Dreams is a story of first love set inthe early 1980's against the backdrop of China's reform and opening. It stars Gao Yuanyuan, Li Bin, Yao Anlianand Wang Xueyang. Fortissimo hasalready presold the film to France (ARP), Benelux (A Films) and Israel (ShaniFilms).

Fortissimorepresented Wang's first film The Daysand previous Cannes entry So Close ToParadise (Un Certain Regard, 1999). Wang won a Berlinale Silver Bear in2001 with Beijing Bicycle.

Krawitz'Jewboy is about a young man searching for his place in the world, hisfamily and his faith.

A Porchlight Films production in association with theAustralian Film Commission and SBS Independent, Jewboy is produced by Liz Watts and Libby Sharpe. It stars Ewen Leslie, Naomi Wilson, SaskiaBurmeister and Leah Vandenberg.

Krawitz prior film Unit#52 screened in Cannes' Directors' Fortnight in 2003.
