The top three titles this week were barely a breath apart with a strong opening for Warner Bros.' Malabar Princess which lands in the top spot with a healthy $8,692 per screen.

The family film beat out the other new films including Tim Burton's Big Fish which entered the chart at number three on fewer screens but with a higher average at $8,777 per. Cedric Khan's Berlin competition film Red Lights came in at number 13 while Pathe's Girl With A Pearl Earring started off its career in the 14th position albeit on a very limited 87 screens.

Not much movement elsewhere in the top 20 with smash sleeper comedy Podium back down at number 2 from its number 1 spot last week. The film is a clear winner - earning over $20m in its first 4 weeks of release - compared to the mega-budgeted Blueberry which debuted the same week but is now formally on its way off the charts landing at number 20 this week for a cumulative take of $4.9 million.
