UK-based short film outfit Future Shorts is launching a distribution division, and partnering with LoveFilm for digital downloads.

The new DVD division will launch its first titles in May 2007, available at Future Shorts events, the company's website and traditional retail stores. DVDs will cover multiple genres, including fiction, documentary, animation, music videos and experimental films. The Future Shorts library includes several winners the recent Clermont-Ferrand competition.

'Future Shorts Distribution represents a highly select and diverse catalogue of films,' said founder and director Fabien Riggall. 'We are looking to change the way people watch films through creating stimulating short film channels on a wide range of mediums, Future Shorts distribution aims to raise the value of short film.'

The LoveFilm downloads, part of a new deal with that company and its sister company Arts Alliance Media, start this month with a selection of themed 'Feel The Love' shorts.

Future Shorts will also curate a slate of HD shorts for Sony's Playstation 3 launch across Europe.
