German video-on-demand (VoD) company media[netCom] has signed a deal with Swiss-based rights trader Highlight Communications giving it VoD rights to all Highlight-licensed pictures.
The non-exclusive deal covers titles such as Scary Movie, U-571, Requiem For A Dream, The Way Of The Gun and Soldier.
Media[netCom] expects to reach 70,000 German cable households by the end of the year, using systems that it has developed in-house. On top of the monthly basic cable charge of DM18.50, [netCom] will charge its customers DM40 a month for the decoder and a subsequent DM5 per film.
Kinowelt Medien recently bought a 10% stake in [netCom] (Screendaily, June 13). Highlight is also a minority shareholder.
