Hairspray will be honoured with the 19th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival's (PSIFF) ensemble performance award on January 5 2008.
The New Line musical will also become the festival's first ever public screening at a special event presented by Netflix the day before when lyric subtitles will encourage the audience to take part in a sing-along.
Cast members John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Allison Janney, Zac Efron and Nikki Blonsky are expected to attend the festival, which runs from January 3-14.
'Featuring Hollywood's biggest names and its hottest young stars, the ensemble of Hairspray is truly an all-star cast and we're honoured to reunite them here in Palm Springs for this outdoor screening and award,' festival chairman Earl Greenburg said.
