Hong Kong star Andy Lau'sFocus Films has sold its entire FOCUS: First Cuts series of Chinese-languagefeatures to Japanese distributor and talent management company IMX.

In addition, the company hassold romantic drama All About Love,starring Lau, Charlie Young (Seven Swords) and Charlene Choi (Twins Effect) to Japan's Movie Eye Entertainment and ShowTime in Korea. Movie Eyewill release the film in Japan in summer 2006 while ShowTime has scheduled theKorean release for next Valentine's Day.

FOCUS: First Cuts is acollection of six high definition (HD) features from up-and-coming filmmakers,from five Chinese-speaking countries, which Focus is producing in associationwith regional channel Star Chinese Movies. Tokyo-based IMX had previouslyacquired the first title to emerge from the series - Taiwanese directorRobin Lee's The Shoe Fairy- but has now come on board as project partner and Japanese distributorfor all six films.

Other titles in the seriesinclude I'll Call You, thedirectorial debut of Kung-fu Hustlestar Lam Tze Chung; Rain Dogs,from award-winning Malaysian director Ho Yuhang; Crazy Stone, from China's Ning Hao; PG (Parental Guidance), to be directed by Hong Kong's Lee Kung Lok and LoveStory from Singaporean directorKelvin Tong.

Focus is attending the AFMfor the first time since its new sales team was appointed earlier this year.The company's slate also includes Indonesian feature Joni's Promise, which is the highest-grossing film in Indonesia sofar this year, and independent Hong Kong drama A Side B Side Seaside.
