20th Century Fox saw its computer-animated hit, Ice Age, pass the $100m mark in international box office at the weekend. With a total international gross of $104.3m, Ice Age is only the second film release on the international circuit this year to pass the watershed. The first was A Beautiful Mind, which now stands at $110.8m.

Featuring the voices of Ray Romano, Denis Leary and John Leguizamo, Ice Age has proved successful around the world, setting records for the best animated opening ever in multiple territories, including: Austria, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Jamaica, Lebanon, Singapore, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

In Mexico it had reached $17.9m (Peso160m) in its first 31 days - the fastest film ever to achieve this. Ice Age also scored Fox's biggest opening in Mexico and the second highest opening ever in the territory. As the company's biggest ever opener in Austria, South Africa the film outperformed prior hits including Independence Day and Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace.

The strongest performances for the film so far have been seen in Germany ($28m), Mexico ($19.3m) and the UK ($18.1m). Other impressive grosses have been seen in Australia ($8.7m), Brazil ($4.1m), Austria ($3.6m), Switzerland ($2.8m), Norway ($1.9m), Colombia ($1.88m) and Puerto Rico ($1.5m) to name a few.

The film opens in Italy and The Netherlands this weekend and launches in France, Egypt, Hungary, Poland, Taiwan, Uruguay and Argentina in June.

Ice Age has grossed a further $160.2m in North America to bring its worldwide tally to $264.5m - still a long way from last year's computer-animated behemoth's Shrek ($469.7m) and Monster's Inc. ($504.2m).
