Icon Entertainment International has closed a raft of sales onFinn Taylor's dark comedy The Darwin Awards, which premieres next week at the SundanceFilm Festival.

Rights have gone to Concorde/Tele-Muenchen in Germany, PresidioCorp in Japan, Dea Planeta in Spain, Nordisk in Scandinavia, LumiereDistribution in the Benelux, and EEAP in Eastern Europe.

Additionally, Odeon has acquired the picture for Greece, Sena forIceland, PT Amero Mitra Films forIndonesia, Prime Pictures for the Middle East,Lusumundo for Portugal, Viva Entertainment for the Philippines, Cathay forSingapore, Nu Metro for South Africa, Long Shong Entertainment for Taiwan, WPMfor Thailand, and Jaguar has airline rights. Icon is distributing in the UK and Australia.

The Darwin Awards stars Joseph Fiennes and Winona Ryder as investigators who checkpeople's posthumous entitlement to awards celebrating ludicrous accidentaldeaths.

David Arquette, Lukas Haas, Juliette Lewis, Julianna Margulies,Alessandro Nivola, Chris Penn and Robin Tunney also star.
