London-based sales and production company Independent has taken on international rights to Bernard Rose's The Kreutzer Sonata.

Jeff Berg at ICM is handling the US rights.

Danny Huston, Elisabeth Rohm, Matthew Yang King and Anjelica Huston star. Producers are Naomi Despres and Lisa Enos.

The Kreutzer Sonata is about a husband who becomes paranoid about his wife's fidelity. It is a modern re-telling of the Leo Tolstoy novella.

Rose directed, shot and edited the film.

Independent's Head of Sales, Abigail Walsh said: 'Bernard is such a passionate and creative film maker it is inspiring to be working with him on The Kreutzer Sonata. It is a powerful story of lust and love but ultimately also destruction and betrayal, brought to life by standout career performances by Danny and Elisabeth.'

Independent is also working with Rose on Mr Nice, which is here at the Berlin Co-Production Market. Independent's Luc Roeg will produce that adaptation of drug smuggler Howard Marks' autobiography.

Meanwhile, Independent is in pre-production for a March start of Richard Jobson's New Town Killers, a chase thriller to star Dougray Scott, Alastair Mackenzie, James Pearson and Charles Mnene.

The company's EFM sales slate also includes Kidulthood follow-up Adulthood, Nic Roeg's Night Train and football enthusiast documentary In The Hands Of the Gods.
