Eagle Pictures' Exorcist:The Beginning opened at the top of the Italian box office lastweekend, grossing $3,632,361. Thehorror flick, which was entirely filmed at Rome's Cinecitta Studios, wasreleased on 402 screens and registered a massive $9,035 per screen.

01 Distribution's ShallWe Dance' slipped into second place, although the Jennifer Lopez picturehas already grossed $10,528,113 from 325 screens three weeks into its release.

UIP's ManchurianCandidate, which received its premiere at the Venice Film Festival inSeptember came in third with $1,182,947, just ahead of Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow, which was co-produced byItaly's Aurelio De Laurentiis and grossed $915,292 on its opening weekend.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros Italia's local production, 13Dici a Tavola, failed to impress. Thepicture, which stars Italian veteran Giancarlo Giannini, opened on 76 screensand earned just $122,627.

D.I.A.'s A DifferentLoyalty also disappointed: the film, with Sharon Stone and Rupert Everett,grossed only 86,268 from 37 screens.
