A massive nine new films were released in Italy at theweekend, but none of them left a mark on the box office as Italians largelycontinued their tradition of steering clear of cinemas when temperatures soar.

While Harry Potter 3 dropped a further 61% at the weekend, the highest new entry (and one of three new horror releases) at number six, wasEagle Pictures's House of 1000 Corpses- although it grossed only $189,977 from 110 screens.

The weekend's biggest flop was Colin Farrell vehicle Intermission, which was released on 92screens by Mikado but earned only $31,273 for a dismal screen average of $340.

The only new Italian film on release, Stai Con Me, also fared poorly.

Released by Istituto Luce, the film which stars GiovannaMezzogiorno and screened at this month's Shanghai Film Festival, grossed just$35,087 from

45 screens.

But even this was better than Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, which earned only$33,564 for 20th Century Fox from 50 screens.
