Italian production and distribution specialist DeAngelis Group has picked up a catalogue of some 200 classic feature films including Cinema Paradiso and Divorce Italian Style.

DeAngelis will handle worldwide sales and distribution of the Cristaldi Films catalogue which dates from the 1940s to the early 1990s. The catalogue also contains a number of other titles with more limited territorial rights. It intends to licence the films for theatrical re-release in some territories and for distribution as classics on fast-growing DVD.

Other titles include Luchino Visconti's Senso and White Nights (Notti Bianco) Roberto Rossellini's Europe 51, Roger Vadim's Loose On The Leash (A Briglia Sciolta) and others including Bitter Rice (Riso Amaro), Big Deal At Madonna Street with Vittoria Gassman, Flight Of The Innocent by Carlo Carlei and A Present Day Hero (Un Eroe Di Nostri Tempi) starring the recently departed Alberto Sordi.

At MIP-TV this week DeAngelis struck a number of deals for its series and mini-series. Bob Hoskins-vehicle The Good Pope was sold to RTP for Portugal, Televisa for Mexico, GRP for Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and to SPI for Isreal. Mini-series Enzo Ferrari was sold to the same buyers in Portugal, Israel and ex-Yugoslavia. The first three series of Incantessimo were sold to France 2, while Julius Caesar was sold to Antenna 3 for Spain.
