Silver Bear-winning actress Julia Jentsch (Sophie Scholl - The Final Days), who appears in Jiri Menzel's Competition film I Served The King Of England this year, has been cast opposite Jan Josef Liefers (Knocking On Heaven's Door) in the German version of Richard Curtis' The Girl In The Cafe.

The Egoli Tossell Film production, which will be set against the backdrop of the G8 summit hosted by Germany in the exclusive Baltic resort of Heiligendamm, began shooting in Berlin on Wednesday.

It is being directed by Maria von Heland (Big Girls Don't Cry) from a screenplay by Martin Rauhaus, with a cast including Jordis Triebel, Juergen Heinrich and Andrea Sawatzki.

According to producer Judy Tossell, the German adaptation will be 'more of a romantic drama with younger leads than in the original.'

TV partner SAT.1 will broadcast the film in the run-up to the summit in June.
