Nicole Kidman and Ang Leehave signed up as honorary co-chairpersons and presenters at the 2002 IFP/WestIndependent Spirit Awards which will be presented on Santa Monica beach onMarch 23. The show is being emceed by John Waters.

Other presenters at the eventinclude this year's Oscar nominees Ian McKellan, Ben Kingsley and EthanHawke as well as independent stalwarts Eric Stoltz, Christina Ricci, AdamGoldberg, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Michelle Rodriguez, Alan Cummingand Rachel Griffiths.
The Spirit Awards are hosted annually the day before the Oscars and honour"films and film-makers who embody independence and challenge the statusquo." Among films nominated this year are Hedwig & The Angry Inch,LIE, Memento, Ghost World and InThe Bedroom.
