Graeme Mason, former UK-based president of acquisitions at Universal Studios, has been appointed to the newly-created role of head of media projects for 4 Ventures, the commercial arm of UK broadcaster Channel 4.

Mason, who has been working as a consultant for Channel 4, is focusing on identifying programming ideas that can be developed into multi-platform entertainment spanning the broadcaster's different services such as terrestrial TV, pay-TV and the web.

Reporting to Channel 4 commercial director Rob Woodward, he will act as 4 Ventures management's key liaison with Channel 4's commissioning team.

"Graeme has a great track record with content and we're confident he'll work effectively with commissioning editors and Channel 4's independent suppliers," said Woodward.

Channel 4 has also promoted Anmar Kawash to become the new managing director of 4 Ventures. Kawash, previously chief operating officer for 4 Ventures, succeeds Woodward, who was promoted to commercial director in October last year.
