Derek Broes has been hired as senior vice president of worldwidebusiness development at Paramount Digital Entertainment.

In the newly created position Broes will be responsible foridentifying new business opportunities across broadband and mobile platforms.

He reports directly to Paramount Digital Entertainment presidentThomas Lesinski.

Broes arrives from Microsoft Corporation where he served as seniordirector of global wireless strategy and business development. He spearheadedMicrosoft's digital media and business development strategy in ten countriesand established new product and licensing infrastructures for the wirelessindustry, among other accomplishments.

Broes also served as director of strategy and strategic relationsfor Microsoft's Windows division.

Prior to Microsoft, Broes served as executive vice president ofworldwide operations for Brilliant Digital Entertainment and Altnet Inc, wherehe established the company's commercial peer-to-peer strategies, played anintegral role in increasing the company's user base to 50million, andestablished a search and loyalty programme for legal peer-to-peer sharing.

He also servedas chairman and chief executive officer at Vidius, and took charge of WestCoast operations, sales and marketing at Stream Search Inc.
