Japan's Shochiku hasannounced that Big Bang Love, Juvenile A,the latest outing by prolific cult filmmaker Takashi Miike, has been selectedto compete in the Panorama section of the upcoming Berlin International FilmFestival.

Starring Ryuhei Matsuda (Gohatto) and Masanobu Ando (Battle Royale), the film tells the storyof a young man who, while working at a gay bar, is sexually assaulted by acustomer, goes into a frenzy and kills the man. He then strikes up a closerelationship with another man while in jail.

Shochiku also had a filmselected for last year's Berlin whenYoji Yamada's The Hidden Blade was inthe official competition section of the festival. The company also received theBerlinale Camera Award for outstanding contributions to cinema.

A Japanese release date for Big Bang Love is expected to beannounced shortly. The film will be presented to buyers for the first time at Berlin's European Film Market along with films such as ninjaactioner Shinobi, the thirdinstallment in Yoji Yamada's samurai trilogy and Hirokazu Kore-eda's Hana.
