Mads Mikkelsen, the Danish star whose internationalprofile is set to soar when he is seen as the villain in Casino Royale later this month, has signed to play Citron in the$7.7m World War II thriller Flame & Citron.

The Danish-language film will be directed by OleChristian Madsen, whose fourth feature Prague, also starring Mikkelsen, just opened in Denmark andscored 20,000 admissions in its opening weekend.

Production company on Flame & Citron is NimbusFilm, whose Lars Bredo Rahbek has 75% of the budget already in place fourmonths before the scheduled start of shooting date on March 5, 2007.

Mikkelsen is joined in the cast by Thure Lindhardtwho plays Flame. The film tells the true story of Resistance fighters whocarried out assassinations under code names during the German occupation ofDenmark from 1940 to 1945.

The project will be shot as both a film and a TVseries. Wuste Film in Germany is co-producing with financing in place from TheDanish Film Institute, TV2 Denmark, Nordic Film & TV Fund and Regional FilmFund Berlin Brandenburg.
