The UK's Mill Film has appointed Neil Hughes to the newly created position of facilities and operations manager as the effects house beefs up its facilities.

As well as looking after the day-to-day management of the company, Hughes, formerly production accountant for Mill Film, will maintain and develop relations between Mill Film's Shepperton and Soho sites. The appointment follows the installation of a high-speed computer links between the two operations.

Hughes will report to managing director Antony Hunt and will resume the role with immediate effect. He will work closely with Karl Mooney and Tim Burke, heads of 2D, and Dave Lomax and Laurent Hugueniot, heads of 3D.

Mill Film recently completed digital effects on Ridley Scott's Gladiator.
