Renowned action choreographer Yuen Wo-ping is set to direct and produce English-language action thriller Vigilantes - The Lost Order as a co-production between China and Canada.
Canada’s Dragon Star Pictures and China’s Film Can Production, founded by Yuen and Anthony Wong, will produce the film. Birch Tree Entertainment is handling worldwide sales
Scheduled to shoot next year, Vigilantes is the first of planned trilogy and will feature a North American cast to be announced soon. The story follows a woman who loses her father to a hit squad as a young girl and grows up to become an assassin who uncovers a global financial conspiracy.
Yuen was action director on films such as The Matrix, Kill Bill and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
“Master Yuen Wo Ping’s action directing has contributed greatly to the success of many of the industry’s top action films,”,said Birch Tree president Art Birzneck, who founded Dragon Star with hedge fund manager Nicolas Merzeau.
