Weinsteins pick up US rights on The Oath of Tobruk

The Weinstein Company has picked up US rights for French philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy’s documentary about the 2011 Libyan revolution, The Oath of Tobruk.

The feature-length documentary, sold internationally by Paris-based Rezo Films, screens out of competition in Cannes next week.

Four key figures of the Libyan revolution will attend the screening alongside Lévy to dedicate their achievement in Libya to their Syrian friends

“American audiences will get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how our government and the French government worked together to stop the slaughter of innocent civilians and brilliantly handled the overthrow of a government,” Harvey Weinstein said in a statement announcing the acquisition.

Earlier this week, Weinstein also picked another weight current affairs title, Code Name Geronimo about the killing of Osama bin Laden.
