Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours and Mohamed Al-Daradji’s Son Of Babylon are amongst the films in competition.
The programme has been announced for the 14th Black Nights Film Festival which will take place in Tallinn, Estonia from 24 November until 5 December.
Amongst the films competiting for the 10,000 Euros Grand Prix in the International Competition EurAsia section will be Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours, Mohamed Al-Daradji’s Son Of Babylon, Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski’s Essential Killing, and Veiko Ounpuu’s Estonian feature The Temptation of St Tony.
The jury will include US producer David Willis, Egyptian actor Khaled Abol Naga, and Iranian actor Fatemeh Simin Motamed-Arya.
The Temptation of St. Tony will also be competing in the Tridens Baltic Feature Film Competition which focuses on the best cinema from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Other films competing for the 5000 Euros prize will include the world premieres of Estonian features Sky Song and Pit No. 8.
The North American Independent Film Competition, which focuses on American Independent productions that have the best potential for distribution, will include John Gray’s White Irish Drinkers and Denis Villenueve’s Incendies.
The director of the Black Nights Film Festival Tiina Lokk said: “The competitions bring together established talent and new directors who will take cinema into the future. It will be a great chance for the Black Nights audiences to see some truly exceptional films.”
The festival will coincide with the European Film Awards which take place in the Estonian capital on 4 December.
