Chris Morris’ satirical film Four Lions, in which four men detonate explosives during the London Marathon, has been pulled from Film4’s schedules following the blasts in Boston.

The film, made in 2010, was due to air at 9pm on the UK channel on Monday [April 22] – a day after the London Marathon.

But following explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday [April 15], which claimed the lives of three people and left at least 140 others injured, the Channel 4-owned station has pulled the film.

A Film4 spokesperson said: “In light of recent tragic events, Film4 has decided not to proceed with the planned broadcast of Four Lions, which was scheduled for Monday 22 April.”

It will be replaced by 2008 comedy Role Models.

However, the BFI will go ahead with two screenings of the film later this month as part of an ongoing retrospective of producer Warp Films.

A BFI spokesperson confirmed: “We have no plans to reschedule the 27 or 28 April screenings.”

The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010, centres on a group of radicalised young Muslim British men who aspire to be suicide bombers and target the London Marathon.
