Former investment banker di Prata joins as an independent director alongside Henderson, Bell Tower’s VP of communications.

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television has added two new members to its Board of Directors, chairman Martin Katz announced yesterday.

Private investor and former investment banker Cam di Prata will join the Board as an independent director alongside Scott Henderson, VP of communications at Bell Media.

Di Prata was an M&A investment banker at Nesbitt Burns from 1987 to 1995 and served as Managing Director at Citigroup from 1995 to 1998. He went on to become group head of telecoms, media and technology investment banking at Scotia Capital.

“We are delighted to have Cam di Prata, a financial services heavyweight, join our Board,” Katz commented. “His acumen in the mergers and acquisitions world boosts our fundraising capacity on the Board and is a real vote of confidence from the private sector in all our efforts in bolstering our operations.”

Henderson, who is also on the Board of Directors for the Toronto Entertainment District BIA and a member of the Television Bureau of Canada’s Communications Committee, has led publicity campaigns for Canadian shows such as Flashpoint (2008) and Saving Hope (2012) as well as The JUNO Awards.

“The collective expertise of our Academy Board just became savvier with the addition of communications trailblazer Scott Henderson,” Katz continued. “Scott’s dynamic and creative approach to original publicity campaigns have resulted in the successful launch of multiple-ratings’ winners in Canadian television series, specials, and awards shows.”

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, a non-profit organisation created in 1979, hosts the annual Canadian Screen Awards and celebrates excellence in the film and television industry.
