EXCLUSIVE: Joachim Trier’s English language debut, co-starring Gabriel Byrne and Isabelle Huppert, is currently shooting in New York.

Paris-based sales Memento Films International (MFI) has announced a slew of sales on Joachim Trier’sLouder Than Bombs as the film starts shooting in New York.

Norwegian director Trier’s English-language debut stars Gabriel Byrne as a man coming to terms with death of his war photographer wife, played by Isabelle Huppert, alongside Jesse Eisenberg as one of his sons.

It has pre-sold to Israel (Lev Cinema), Greece (Seven Group), Turkey (Bir Films), Ex-Yugoslavia (Megacom), Hong Kong (Golden Scene), Taiwan (Maison Motion), India (Pictureworks) and the Middle East (Falcon Films).

The film is a Norwegian-French-Danish co-production between Oslo-based Motlys, Memento Films Production and Copenhagen-based Nimbus Film. As previously announced, Svensk Filmindustri holds Norwegian and Danish rights. TriAart will handle theatrical in Sweden. 

Other titles on MFI’s TIFF slate include Xavier Giannoli’s upcoming Marguerite, starring Catherine Frot as an aspiring opera singer with a terrible voice, as well as Still Alice and Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Palme d’Or winner Winter Sleep, which are screening at Toronto.
