Brendan Gleeson joins racehorse family adventure The Cup
Brendan Gleeson has joined the cast of family adventure The Cup that is set to commence production in Australia this summer and is being sold around most of the world by Myriad Pictures.
Village Roadshow, Screen Australia and Film Victoria are providing financing for the project, which also stars Stephen Curry.
Gleeson will play the celebrated Irish horse trainer Dermot Weld, who helped a grieving jockey win the 2002 Melbourne Cup.
Simon Wincer is directing and will produce with his Silver Lion Films partner Lance Hool. Myriad CEO and president Kirk D’Amico is an executive producer on the project alongside Village Roadshow’s Joel Pearlman, and James M Vernon, Greg Sitch and Peter DeRauch.
Myriad handles worldwide sales excluding the Village Roadshow markets of Australia, Singapore, New Zealand and Greece.
Santa Monica-based Myriad’s Cannes slate include Salvation Boulevard with Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Connelly, Sundance hit happythankyoumoreplease, Every Day with Liev Schreiber, Helen Hunt and Carla Gugino, and Main Street, which stars Colin Firth, Patricia Clarkson and Ellen Burstyn.
