Noomi Rapace will star in Legendary Pictures’ Brilliance, which Julius Onah will direct from a script by David Koepp.

The story is based on Marcus Sakey’s novel and follows people with heightened cognitive abilities, called “brilliants,” including federal agent Nick Cooper, whose gift makes him exceptional at hunting terrorists.

Joe Roth, Thomas Tull, and Jon Jashni will produce the film and Alex Hedlund, Palak Patel and Eric McLeod are the executive producers.

The film will open through Universal pursuant to Legendary’s deal with the studio.

The novel was published by Amazon imprint Thomas and Mercer in August 2013 and is the first of a planned trilogy. The second book is due out later this year.
