O’Toole will play a former ballet star who develops an unlikely friendship with an orphan before tutoring her to stardom. The film is predominantly set in the Paris National Opera House where Geraldine Chaplin’s character presides over the Ballet Company. Casting is underway to find a young ballerina suitable for the eponymous role.

Jeanne Manson, Daniel Downing, Brigitte Moati and Larrio Ekson round out the cast.

Four-time Oscar winner Michel Legrand will score the piece, and Claude Bessy, a former Prima Ballerina at the Paris National Opera will choreograph the dance scenes.
