The British director, whose writing credits for the Hammer label included The Curse Of Frankenstein, has died aged 83.

Welsh born Sangster started off as a production assistant for the Hammer label before going on to script two of Hammer’s most iconic films, the 1957 The Curse Of Frankenstein and Dracula in 1958. Other scripts for the label included X: The Unknown and The Mummy.

He turned his hand to directing in 1970 with The Horror Of Frankenstein and Lust For A Vampire, also writing US TV shows Wonder Woman and The Six Million Dollar Man.
