The Matrix could do nothing to prevent Pixar's Finding Nemo from racing past it to the top of the Norwegian chart, where it was released on the highest ever number of prints (110) and drummed up an impressive admission screen average of 1004.

With a total of 110,488 it was this year's best opening - beating the one set by Pirates Of The Caribbean's 82,898.

Finding Nemo had a sneak premiere at the annual Great Cinema Day two weeks earlier, where it had taken one third of the total 155,000 admissions.

While Matrix dropped 50%, it stayed in second place in front of Mother's Elling, which admission-wise fell back only 8%. The other new releases were much less successful, as The Human Stain only managed 10th, In The Cut 17th and Le Divorce 19th on the admissions chart.
