UK distributor Optimum hasacquired UK rights to seven new features.

The distributor has come onboard FilmFour's Brick Lanedirected by Sarah Gavron, which will start shooting in June.

Also in the pre-productionstage, Optimum has taken Day of the Dead, a horror film directed by Steve Miner for Nu Image/Millennium Films.

From Europa Corp, Optimumstruck deals for Luc Besson's Angel-A and Gerard Krawczyk's Taxi 3.

The distributor struck a dealwith Cinetic for comedy Sasquatch Dumpling Gang, which won the audience award at the 2006 SlamdanceFilm Festival.

From Focus, the companybought National Geographic's arctic documentary White Planet and Dave Chappelle's Block Party directed by Michel Gondry.

The company also recentlyacquired rights to Emir Kusturica's football documentary Maradona and two Cannes competition titles: Guillermo delToro's Pan's Labyrinth and NanniMoretti's The Caiman.

Optimum was recentlyacquired by France's StudioCanal.
