Off to a running start atthe AFM, France's Pan Europeenne has acquired French rights to Howard McCain's Outlander and Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth.

The distribution company'sdeputy managing director Jean-Philippe Tirel told Screen that Pan Europeennepaid $3m for Outlander in a dealwith LA-based producer Ascendant Pictures and $600,000 for Pan's Labyrinth in a deal with Spain's Telecinco. Both films arebeing sold internationally by Pan Europeenne parent company Wild Bunch.

Outlander, which was acquired by the Weinstein Co. earlierthis year for the US, is a $45m Viking sci-fi actioner with production designby Godzilla and Independence Day's Patrick Tatopoulo. Cast has yet to be confirmed.

Currently inpost-production, Pan's Labyrinthis del Toro's blend of fairy tale and realism set during the Spanish Civil War.Cast includes Sergi Lopez, Maribel Verdu, Ariadna Gil and Ivana Baquero.
