Pathe International UK chief Alison Thompson closed a slew ofdeals at the Toronto International Film Festival following the screenings ofPeter Webber's Girl With A Pearl Earring and Kevin Macdonald's Touching The Void. Both films had their world premierescreenings at Telluride in late August before heading to Toronto.

Asmik Ace and Pony Canyon teamed to buy Touching The Void for Japan, Hopscotch bought it forAustralia and Diaphana for France, while Thompson says that three Germancompanies have put in offers. She predicts that the film, to which IFC Filmstook North American rights, will be sold out by MIFED.

Meanwhile Eurocine in Argentina, Svensk Filmindustri inScandinavia and Paradise in CIS took Girl With A Pearl Earring which stars Colin Firth and ScarlettJohansson and is being released by Lions Gate in the US and Canada in December.Thompson said she is fielding offers from Italy and Germany on the film.

"Toronto has become far more important as a selling place,"Thompson told ScreenDaily. "The only territory you really miss inToronto is Italy because they tend to favour Venice."

PatheInternational (UK) also unveiled Jane Campion's In The Cut at Toronto but Thompson had sold outterritories earlier in the year.
