The 33rd Polish Film Festival (PFF) has announced its line-up, with Polish director Robert Glinski as president of the main competition jury.

Sixteen films compete for the festival's main grand prize, including Jerzy Skolimowski's Quinzaine title Four Nights With Anna; A Warm Heart, from European Film Academy co-founder Krzysztof Zanussi; and Petr Zelenka's Polish-Czech co-production The Karamazovs, which one the FIPRESCI award this year at Karlovy Vary.

Also screening in competition is The Offsiders, a new film from director Kasia Adamik, known to international audiences for her 2002 Sundance title Bark! Adamik has collaborated with her mother, Agniezska Holland, on numerous films and is co-directing with her the historical drama The True Story Of Janosik.

Slawomir Fabicki, 2002 Oscar nominee for his live-action short A Man Thing, will chair the jury considering the 16 films in the Independent Cinema Competition.

The festival will also screen eight films in its Panorama of Polish Cinema and a whopping 28 shorts and feature film debuts from recent film school graduates.

PFF offers visitors an opportunity to see most of the films produced in Poland over the last year -- a large number, given the generous and effective support of the Polish Film Institute.

The festival takes place Sept 15-22 in Gdynia, a quiet port city near the resort town of Sopot and close to Gdansk. With an inward focus on national cinema, the festival draws most of the Polish film universe and audiences keen to see their favourite stars up close.
