Paris-based distributorPretty Pictures has announced the acquisition of three new films following theBerlin EFM.

The company will releaseMaria Maggenti's Sundance competitor Puccini ForBeginners in fall 2006. The screwball sex farce stars Gretchen Mol, Elizabeth Reaser, Julianne Nicholsonand Justin Kirk and was acquired from Katapult Films.

Spanish language title Rosario Tijeras, directed by Paris-basedEmilio Maille, was also acquired and is set to bereleased in summer 2006. The film has a berth at the upcoming Cognac ThrillerFestival.

Finally, Pretty Picturestook Metal: A Headbanger's Journey from Seville Pictures for a June2006 release. The documentary, directed by Sam Dunn, Scott McFadyenand Jessica Joy Wise, includes appearances by such hard rockers as AliceCooper, Geddy Lee, Vince Neil and Rob Zombie.

Pretty Pictures is also gearing up to release controversial CannesCritics' Week title The Great Ecstasy Of RobertCarmichael which goes out on April 26 in France.
