Majority control of Parisian special effects house Duran Duboi has officially shifted to Tarak Ben Ammar's Quinta Communication.

As previously reported (ScreenDaily.com September 19, 2003), Ben Ammar stepped in to rescue Duran which had been on the brink of bankruptcy due to a downturn in the market.

Good news came last week when the deal was ratified and Duran's share price jumped up to a 52 week high of Euros 3.880 on January 30. According to financial documents, Ben Ammar pumped Euros 2.5m into the company.

Along with Duran, Ben Ammar also owns labs LTC and Ex-Machina making him one of the strongest players in the field. Duran Duboi works both in film and television. Its credits include Amelie, Delicatessen, the Asterix films, the currently in release RRRrrrr!!! and the upcoming A Very Long Engagment from Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Oliver Stone's Alexander.
