The Screen Actors Guild has announced nominees for its 13th awards, with Leonardo DiCaprio nominated in both the leading actor and supporting actor categories for Blood Diamond and The Departed, respectively.

Babel, Dreamgirls and Little Miss Sunshine each earned nominations in three categories, with Notes On A Scandal, The Departed, Blood Diamond and Little Children each taking two mentions.

Most of the nominees were expected names being discussed during this awards season, such as Peter O'Toole for Venus and Helen Mirren for The Queen.

Among the less expected inclusions are indie favourites Ryan Gosling for lead actor in Half Nelson and young Abigail Breslin for Little Miss Sunshine.

Brad Pitt was overlooked for his role in Babel (although the ensemble cast was recognised) as was Venice best actor winner Ben Affleck for Hollywoodland. Two supporting actresses from Babel - Adriana Barraza and Rinko Kikuchi - will compete against one another.
