ScriptNet 2000, a charitable British skill-sharing project between the UK and Ghana, is currently preparing five Ghanaian short films for production in the country from December.

ScriptNet 2000 launched a nationwide scriptwriting competition in Ghana last October and initially received 150 story treatments, which were then developed through a series of workshops held in the country by UK professionals. Ghanaian film executives and project tutors selected five of the projects for production.

A British internet advisory board has been involved in the project throughout. Headed by William Boyd, the board includes representatives from the BBC, Film Four/Channel Four, the BFI, British Screen and the Short Film Bureau.

Prior to shooting, a new round of workshops helmed by British professionals will begin in October for directors, producers and actors.

When completed, the films will be screened on the project's website (www.scriptnet2000.org), on in-movies.com and at international festivals.

The scripts to be produced are:

The Next Meal by Gameli Tordzro
Lariba by Vera Kwakofi
The Ring by Victor Yankah
A Nite Of Destiny by Derek Sewornu
Singha by Osei Mfiasi
