Senator International, the LA sales arm of Germany's Senator Entertainment, has acquired international rights to XX/XY, the romantic drama written and directed by Austin Chick which played in competition at the Sundance Film Festival. IFC Films has domestic distribution rights on the film which stars Mark Ruffalo, Maya Stange and Kathleen Robertson.

"This was one of the most talked about films at Sundance," said Senator International president Joe Drake. "It is a passionate, emotional journey into three people's lives that makes for a compelling film experience. With the marketing expertise of IFC Films in place for the US release and the vision of Austin, we are thrilled to offer this film to the international marketplace."

XX/XY stars Ruffalo and Stange as college lovers who are reunited eight years later only to find themselves drawn back into a relationship. Robertson plays the third friend who adds to the complicated dynamic of the relationship.

The film was produced by Isen Robbins and Aimee Schoof, and Mitchell B Robbins.

Ruffalo, a multiple award-winner for You Can Count On Me, has racked up a series of high profile credits recently including The Last Castle, Windtalkers, A View From The Top and Jane Campion's soon-to-shoot In The Cut.
