The Intimacies Of Shakespeare And Victor Hugo, a feature-length documentary from Mexican director Yulene Hugo, took the top prize at the seventh Transilvania International Film Festival.

Director Yulena Olaizola received the festival grand prize, and Euros 10,000, from Catherine Deneuve. Deneuve was likewise honored with a lifetime achievement award, which she received from Maia Morgenstern.

Best Director went to Omar Shargawi for Go In Peace Jamil. Mart Taniel received the award for Best Cinematography for his work on Veiko Ounpuu's Autumn Ball. And Hungarian actors Peter Haumann, Peter Rudolf and Milan Schruff shared the Best Performance award for their roles in The Adventurers.

In the Romanian Days competition, the award for Best Romanian Feature Film went to Thomas Ciulei's The Flower Bridge. Igor Cobileanski's Inspiration was named Best Romanian Short Film, while George Dorobantu received the Best Romanian Debut Film award for his film Elevator.

France's ambassador to Romania, Henri Paul, named Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu, director of 2006 Camera d'Or title 12:08 East Of Bucharest, a knight of the Order of Arts and Literature.

This year's festival screened 200 films from 40 countries and saw more than 35,000 admissions.

Audience Award: I Always Wanted To Be A Gangster (France, dir. Samuel Benchetrit)

HBO Screenwriting Award for Best Short Film Script: Bogdan Muresanu

HBO Screenwriting Award for Best Feature Film Script: Ioan Antoci

Romanian Days Award for Best Romanian Short Film: Inspiration (Romania, Moldova, dir. Igor Cobileanski)

Romanian Days Award for Best Romanian Feature: The Flower Bridge (Romania, dir. Thomas Ciulei)

Debut Award: George Dorobantu for Elevator (Romania)
