Showcase Entertainment has acquired two new pictures for its AFM slate - The Sky Is Falling and Eastside.

The LA-based company headed by David Jackson has bought international rights to The Sky Is Falling, a comic drama about a 28-year-old having a mid-life crisis, which stars Dedee Pfeiffer, Teri Garr, Howard Hessman and Laura Leighton. Directed by Florrie Laurence, the film is produced by Brad Hall and David Parks.

Meanwhile Showcase has also snared worldwide rights to Lorena David's Eastside produced by Mark Roberts of Kingsize Entertainment and Ravi Chopra of Candlelight Films. The action movie stars Mario Lopez as a man recently released from prison who falls back into a life of crime.
