Sony Pictures Classics has acquired rights in North America, Australia and New Zealand to Jackpot, the second movie from Mark and Michael Polish whose first film Twin Falls Idaho was also picked up by SPC at Sundance 1999.

Currently in post-production, Jackpot was written by both Polishes but directed by Michael Polish. It stars Daryl Hannah, Jon Gries, Anthony Edwards, Garrett Morris, Mac Davis, Peggy Lipton and Adam Baldwin.

Shot on the Sony 24P digital camera, Jackpot is the story of an aspiring country and western singer (Gries) and his road manager (Morris) who take to the road looking for an audience only to find themselves in karaoke bars as they make their way across the country.

It is the second instalment in a trilogy of films by the Polish brothers and will be released in summer 2001.

The deal was negotiated by Paul Mayersohn of Surpin, Mayersohn, Edelston and Endeavor on behalf of the Polish Brothers and Dylan Leiner, senior vice president of Acquisitions and Production of Sony Pictures Classics along with co-presidents Michael Barker, Tom Bernard and Marcie Bloom. Jackpot was executive produced by Marlise Karlin and James Egan and produced by the Polish Brothers.
