Straight Jacket, Richard Day's follow-up feature to Girls Will BeGirls, will open the 2004 Miami Gay& Lesbian Film Festival which takes place for the sixth time from April 23to May 2.

The festival will alsopresent Miguel Albaladejo's Cachorro (Bear Cub) as thecenterpiece gala screening and will close with a gala screening of AngelaRobinson's lesbian spy adventure DEBS produced by Andrea Sperling who will be presented with the Wolfe CareerAchievement Award at the screening.

Festival Manager Jaie Laplanteand Program Director Carol Coombes also said that they would be presenting a 15year salute to Strand Releasing principals Marcus Hu and Jon Gerrans who willscreen four new films in the festival - A Thousand Clouds Of Peace,Iron Ladies II, Proteus and The Raspberry Reich.

Straight Jacket stars Jack Plotnik, Veronica Cartwright and MatthewLetscher in the story of a 50s movie star who must marry a studio secretary toconceal his homosexuality.

Among the other titles inthe festival are Todd Verow's Anonymous, Rodney Evans' Brother To Brother, Adi Barash and Ruthie Shatz's Garden and Francois Girod's Transfixed.

The festival also plays hostto the 5th annual Planetout.com Short Film Awards.
