StudioCanal has taken on international sales for Margarethe von Trotta's new feature The Women Of Rosenstrasse which continues shooting at the Babelsberg Studios until the end of this week before moving to Munich

The Euros 6.5m co-production between Studio Hamburg Letterbox Filmproduktion, Tele Muenchen, the Netherlands' Get Reel, and Studio Hamburg Produktion fuer Film und Fernsehen centres on a little-known case of resistance to the Nazi dictatorship by 6,000 German women protesting at the planned deportation of their Jewish husbands to the death camps from a collection centre in Rosenstrasse in the heart of Berlin in 1943. The cast includes Katja Riemann (Bibi Blocksberg), Maria Schrader (I'm The Father), Fedja van Huet (Karakter) and Juergen Vogel (Naked).

Producer Markus Zimmer of Tele Muenchen and the film's German distributor Concorde Film told screendaily.com that 'the film should be ready by late spring next year and we will naturally be aiming for a presentation at an 'A'-list festival. We see this film as definitely having relevance for audiences outside of Germany. Although it is set during the Nazi era, this story is timeless and continues to have validity to this day. It could have happened in the same way in every dictatorship or totalitarian system, and the film wants to call on people to stand up for their beliefs and oppose such systems.'
