The Sundance Channel has acquired all US rights to Mark Rucker'sdirectorial debut Die Mommie Die with a theatrical release through the Sundance Film Series slatedfor autumn.

An ode to the Ross Hunter-style cinema soaps of the 1960s, DieMommie Die deals withthe fall-out from a two-timing pop diva's attempt to murder her husband.

Charles Busch (who also wrote the screenplay), Frances Conroy,Philip Baker Hall and Jason Priestley star in the film, which premiered at thisyear's Sundance and earned a special performance Jury Prize for Busch.

UTA and Irwin Rappaport negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakersand Christian Vesper represented the Sundance Channel.

Aviator Films' Dante Di Loreto and Anthony Edwards and BillKenwright of Bill Kenwright Films produced.

"In Die Mommie Die, Charles Busch and Mark Rucker haveachieved a stylish and hilarious adventure made with a clear and creativevision," said Sundance Channel senior vice president of film programming, PaolaFreccero.

This is the third title acquired by Sundance Channel for theSundance Film Series. The first two were Michael Winterbottom's In ThisWorld and Mark Decena's Dopamine.

The Sundance Film Series will feature four films, each to bereleased theatrically in 10 markets across the country exclusively in LoewsTheatres.
