Swedish regional fund Film I Vast is expanding its already considerable studios with another 4500 square meters of fully equipped sound stage.

"We're not doing this because of Manderlay, but we are in talks about that film," said CEO Tomas Eskilsson referring to the second film of Lars von Trier's U.S.A. trilogy of which the first Dogville was shot at its Trollhattan studios.

Office space will also be doubled and the fund is in talks with a number of local production companies, including major SF, who are eager to set up offices on the lot.

Construction costs will reach Euros 4,5m, but will also include a mixing studio which might be set up with Denmark's Mainstream. Film I Vast has an annual Euros 7,5m budget and produced some 15 features and 2 TV series this year.
