Sweden's Nonstop Entertainment has acquired Hong Kong hit Infernal Affairs by young director Alan Mak. The rights cover Scandinavia, Iceland and the Baltic countries, and the release date is set for late 2003.

Infernal Affairs, an action thriller about an undercover cop in the triads starring Tony Leung and Andy Lau, is the most successful Hong Kong film for many years. A major buzz title at Berlin and the AFM, the film won the awards for best film and best actor at the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards. It also has 16 nominations for the 22nd Hong Kong Film Awards, which is to take place on April 6.

A prequel and sequel are already planned and Warner Bros, along with actor Brad Pitt, recently bought the rights to a US remake.

As reported on screendaily.com, other recent acquisitions by Stockholm based Nonstop Entertainment include Michael Winterbottom's Berlin Golden Bear Winner In This World.
