Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu's film 12:08 East Of Bucharest (A fost sau n-a fost') followedits Cannes wins with the top prizes at the fifth Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF).

The feature received $12,612 (Euros 10,000) and the Transilvania Trophy for Best Film, anadditional $2522 (Euros 2,000) for best film in the RomanianDays selection, and an audience award from festival-goers. In Cannes, whereit played as part of Directors Fortnight, it won the EuropaCinemas Label and the Camera d'Or.

French-Georgianco-production 13-Tzameti won the FIPRESCIAward for director Gela Babluaniand Best Cinematography for Tariel Meliava.

Hungarian director Gyorgy Palfiwon the Best Director Award and $6300 (Euros5,000) for his film Taxidermia.David Dencik won Best Actor for his role as atranssexual in the Danish film A Soap, directed by PernilleFischer Christensen.

The awards were announced at a gala ceremony June 10at the National Theatre in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Porumboiu produced 12:08 East Of Bucharest through his own company and with the help of sponsorsfor $228,000. The film has been sold in a handful of territories - including Italy, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria and Brazil. Several other deals are in the works. It saw almost1,000 admissions over the course of the 10-day festival and will have adomestic release in September.
